As of October 2011, Brother Stephen Cartwright stepped down as a
Director with the School of Christ to pursue a new direction with the Lord.
Stephen Cartwright was born and raised in England. As a young man, he answered the Lord's call to "forsake all and follow me" not knowing where He would take him. The first step was to a small Bible school in Scotland. From there, the Lord opened the door for him to go to America with Pete Spackman to help in practical ways around the ministry. It was while he was there that Brother Clendennen taught the first School of Christ in America in Kerville, Texas which Stephen attended.
His life was greatly impacted by the teaching of the School, and in 1999, he joined the School of Christ as a full time missionary to India. He returned to America in early 2000 only long enough to get married and return to the work in India. Together, Stephen and his wife worked in India with the SOC, establishing contacts and running the school. In 2002, the door was unexpectedly closed to Stephen in India. He then began working in the SOC office in Beaumont, Texas as the Media Coordinator. Stephen was then sent to establish the School in Indonesia.
He and his family moved there in 2004 until the Lord raised up the local leaders whom He had called to take over the direction of the School in that land. He then returned to America, and resumed his position as media coordinator in the Head Office of the School of Christ International. In 2006, the door to Africa opened with the running of the first School in Rwanda. From then until now, Stephen has served as Director for the work of the School of Christ in Africa and travels frequently to oversee the running of the School in various regions of the African continent.
